Happy Friday bloggers. At last,
the last long weekend of August is coming. Our country celebrates National
Heroes Day on August 25. Since the said date falls on a Sunday, our President
declared 26th a special non-working holiday. My family is planning
to go either to the beach or a mountain resort since my dad will be turning 21
on the 27th. My husband and I will treat him for his birthday. I
know that they will have a good time whether it’s going to be the beach or
mountain resort because our almost 7 month old son is coming along. This trip will
be my son’s first outdoor activity. I am hoping it would be the beach because
he can interact with water. I have noticed that he likes taking a bath. I am really
excited to see my son squeal with delight.

Philippine Storm
Philippines once again has been hit
by storm that affected the lives of so many of our citizens in the Luzon area.
Work and classes have been suspended since Monday. We see on television how the
streets seem like rivers running wild. I even saw one lady still on her rooftop
and being swept by water. She has not been found until now.
In times like these, we see many
Filipinos sacrificing their time, money, and effort to help those in need.
Filipinos do step up during times of crisis. In spite of the bad image of
Filipinos being lazy, corrupt, undisciplined among other things, I am proud
that there are still more Filipinos who are hardworking, honest, decent,
persistent and holds true to their values. I am also proud that Filipinos are
one of the happiest people in the world. If you watch the Philippine news, even
if tragedy has struck, when they see the television camera rolling, they smile
and wave and it seems that they are just laughing out the tragedy that struck
them. That is amazing for me.
It saddens me though that most of
our politicians’ greed destroy the good values that Filipinos “were” known for.
I say “were” because it seems that most of the Philippines “glory days” were in
the past. Corruption destroys the trust of the people and corruption just
begets corruption.
I hope and pray that those
affected by the storm will not lose hope and continue to embrace Filipino
values.

Company Uniform
Uniform is one way of indentifying what company, school or organization you belong to. It is one way of showcasing a company’s professionalism. It identifies us from other organizations. Wearing a proper uniform helps in creating a positive impression from customers. It also promotes discipline for the employees because uniforms have standards that one should follow. Standards like pairing the uniform with appropriate shoes, making sure the uniform is clean and tidy. Wearing of uniform also takes away the pressure of having to choose what to wear everyday.
In our company, I am grateful that we are provided with uniforms. Our human resource always reminds us that we are being judged by our appearance when we deal with customers. They make sure that our uniforms are presentable and that we are wearing shoes with heels. I have no problem with that. I actually agree that we should wear our uniforms presentably.
However, I just have some thoughts on the kind of uniforms we are wearing. First, our company only requires and provides uniforms for women. Our company is an agricultural company so most of our employees are farm based. What I don’t understand is that they are so strict with the ladies but our men can wear whatever they want. In my three year stay with the company, not once did I see a memo describing how the men should wear their office clothes. Most of them wear round necked T-Shirts and rubber shoes. I just can’t get the point why they are so strict especially on women’s shoes. Should not the uniforms also be appropriate with the company’s environment? For those in the farm areas, I pity that they have to wear heels and the men could wear rubber shoes and t-shirts.
Couldn’t we just wear shirt jacket uniforms? And just wear formal flats for comfort? I’m sure more will want that.

First Solid Food
My baby started eating solids two
days ago. Since we currently have avocados, I gave him one bite sized avocado.
I mashed it and diluted it with breastmilk. He loved it. He is being fed three
times a day. Tomorrow, I will introduce mashed potato. I have been advised to
introduce solids one at a time around 4-7 days interval before introducing another
food. This is to know if the baby has allergic reactions to the foods
introduced.
He
still has colds and his antibiotics will end tomorrow. He was immunized
yesterday and he lost weight because one of the effects of antibiotics is
frequent bowel movement. He also could not nurse properly because there are
times that he has to breathe through his mouth. I hope he will get better soon
so that he will gain more weight.

Under the Weather
I have colds for the past two
days. Yesterday, I started to get feverish and started feeling the symptoms of
flu coming in. My son caught my virus and he is now on medication. He cannot
sleep well because of his clogged nose. Last night, my husband was also
feverish. It’s a good thing that tomorrow is a holiday because we can get more
sleep. I think our immune system weakened because of lack of sleep and being occasionally
hit by a drizzle of rain.
We are supposed to go to the farm
tomorrow but I guess, the three of us will have to stay home.
Happy long weekend everyoneJ

August Holidays
I love the month of August
because aside from being the birth month of my Dad, It also has a lot of
holidays. Ther e is a holiday every week in August and what a great gift to
have the opportunity to enjoy more free time with our loved ones.
The following holidays are as follows:
August 9 Eidul-Fitar
August 16 Kadayawan Festival
August 21 Ninoy
Aquino Day
August 25 (moved to 26) National
Heroes Day
Our schedule is packed with
plans. I’m not sure of the execution though. We are planning to go to the beach
with our 6 month old. We are also planning to have an overnight stay at Eden
Mountain Resort. Those are just plans
and hoping that they will push through. So many times, our nap cravings just
screams so loud that when we are at home, we just want to hang out and be lazy.

The Bible
The Bible: A Beautiful Story That Could Touch Your Heart
This is another story sent to me by a friend. I have heard this story before from one of the messages delivered in church. This is a simple story but the meaning is great. Hope you enjoy and learn from what this story. Have a great weekend everyone:)
A
young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had
admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father
could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day
approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat Disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?", and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse,
Matt 7:11: "And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.
How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...
IF YOUR GIFT IS NOT PACKED THE WAY YOU WANT IT, IT'S BECAUSE IT IS BETTER PACKED THAT WAY! ALWAYS APPRECIATE LITTLE THINGS; THEY USUALLY LEAD YOU TO ATTACHMENTS!
